Mick Farrell


Mick Farrell is CEO of ResMed, based at its global headquarters in San Diego. ResMed has pioneered award-winning devices and cutting-edge cloud-based solutions for diagnosing and treating sleep apnea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and other chronic respiratory diseases for more than 27 years. Since Mick became CEO in 2013, ResMed has undergone a dramatic transformation from world leading medical device manufacturer to the #1 global leader in remote patient monitoring, with 2 million cloud-connected devices and counting.

Mick has been with ResMed 16 years, also serving as president of its Americas region, senior vice president of its global sleep apnea business unit and other senior roles in marketing and business development. Before joining ResMed in 2000, Mick worked in management consulting (Arthur D. Little), biotechnology (Genzyme Corporation, now part of Sanofi), chemicals (The Dow Chemical Company) and metals manufacturing BHP Billiton.

In addition to his CEO role at ResMed, Mick serves on ResMed’s board of directors. He is also on the board of directors of Zimmer Biomet, a multi-billion dollar company that provides implantable musculoskeletal medical devices, and on the board of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed). Mick volunteers as a trustee for two non-profit organizations in his hometown of San Diego: the La Jolla Playhouse and the Museum of Man.
Mick holds a Bachelor’s in engineering with first-class honors from the University of New South Wales, a Master of Science in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
